Ahu TongarikiYour location: Welcome! (Main page) / Ahu Tongariki
It is an impressive site with 15 moai. The statues were destroyed by a huge tidal wave in 1960, but the site was restored afterwards. You mustn't miss Ahu Tongariki when visiting Rapa Nui. It is a great site that most travelers visit and take pictures of. Ahu Tongariki is a great place for taking photos. The landscape is breathtaking: huge, almost vertical sea cliffs comprise the shores, breaking the blue waves hitting them... Nobody should miss this place when on Easter Island. Don't confuse Ahu Tongariki with Tongariki Beach. These are 2 distinct things. The beach is one thing and the ahu is the archaeological site. Location on the map
